An Economic Perspective Of The Failed Drug War

Current political thinking is that we can legislate behavior when it comes to drugs. Is it time to consider regulating it instead? It would be really nice if we could steer clear of the emotional drama surrounding many social and economic issues and instead have logical debates about policy. This is an interesting, logical perspective on the economics of the failed drug war. It may be valid or it may not be valid. But, the point is it's founded in some type of rational intelligence. I'm curious how much money is spent housing nonviolent drug offenders in prison in addition to the costs cited in this article. I suspect the overall costs of failed policy are well beyond those cited in this article.
