Noam Chomsky: WikiLeaks Cables Reveal "Profound Hatred for Democracy on the Part of Our Political Leadership …. Government Secrecy Is To Protect The Government From Its Own Population”.

This most recent barrage of information from WikiLeaks is incredibly damning to Washington’s lack of moral clarity and its secretive “at any cost” policies.   Almost every nation is being spied upon, including by the State Department.  Almost every nation is painted in a very negative light.  Democratic nations seeking to investigate possible wrongdoing by U.S. political apparatus were bullied into silence.  Who abroad would now trust the United States?

This presents a major crisis in confidence not only within the United States but around the world.

Who can trust the secrecy of the state?  No one.  The U.S. political apparatus has lost its moral ability to lead, not only within the U.S. but internationally.

It’s good to be the king.  Not much longer though.
