The Sham That Is The United States Senate - Is The Volcker Bill To Regulate Banks Dead On Arrival? It's Time To Repeal The 17th Amendment.

First off, I'm not going to write a thesis because of limited time, but anyone arguing banks proprietary trading as not contributing to this crisis either have no idea what they are talking about or are lying. I have written of proprietary trading and its risks countless times. Volcker link here.

Secondly, I wasn't around when the 17th Amendment to the Constitution was passed but I now begin to wonder why it was passed. Just as I now wonder about most everythign else. I know what the history books would tell us but I'm talking about reality not the pablum fed to us our our schools and national government. It's ironic that the 17th Amendment was passed the same year the Federal Reserve Act was passed and the income tax was passed. Is there any meaning to this?

It seems the vast majority of the corporatocracy and lobbying corruption is focused in the Senate. And Senators have a substantial perception of being above the will of the people because of six year terms. The Volcker bill is being killed by the Senate. Healthcare reform was bastardized into a communist manifesto in the Senate.

Originally, the House was the legislative body of the people. The Senate was the legislative body of the states. State's Rights allowed any state to recall their Senator if they were not representing the state's interests. How many Senators would either be threatened with or have already been recalled by states in this environment given the utter corruption and arrogance of today's Senate?

The power states wielded against Senators used to provide a check against uncontrolled federalism which has morphed into some bastardized national government. That was not the intent of a federal and state government separation of powers. Federal government was not meant to be national government. These are two mutually exclusive terms. This mess now means Senators are no longer beholden to state's interests but instead to fraudulent corporate and special interest lobbyists. To the continuation of a war state. To statism in general. To an improper functioning of our democratic institutions.

I become so frustrated when I hear liberal idiots labeling State's Rights advocates as nutjobs and members of the right extreme. This marginalization is meant to diffuse debate of the real issues. Liberal idiots do not represent the best interests of our nation. Instead progressivism, of which Thomas Jefferson was a founder, advocated State's Rights. Liberals are elitists who instead believe they are intellectually superior and destined to rule. Or tell the rest of us how we lead our lives. Interchangeably using progressive and liberal is no different than the use of national versus federal in defining our federal government. They don't remotely have the same meaning.

Progressives and conservatives alike should support State's Rights for the very foundation of their views of how government should operate. How our government was originally intended to operate. Liberals and neoliberals would object for their very patronizing views of democracy and consequently how our government should operate.

While we are talking about reform, repeal the 17th Amendment and return to State's Rights to fight a national government run amok.
