Deceit And The Structural Conflicts Of Interest Of A For-Profit National Security And War-Making Apparatus

Blackwater is but the tip of a massive iceberg. Society needs to have a serious debate about tying profit to national security and war. The unintended consequences and conflicts of interest are just massive. There is little doubt that people are dying and suffering severe trauma unnecessarily due to peddled influence of profit. Even if the intent is just, it is being garbled or even outright distorted into horrible policy by money and greed. And borrowing money from for-profit financial institutions to wage war is more than fine for the endlessly crooked banksters.

It's time for great reform of national security. Even if it is through process alone and not a conscious act, our military and security apparatus has become wildly corrupted by lobbyists and influence-peddling to politicians.

This is not just an American issue either. Countries like Germany, Britain, France and Russia are equally complicit. The only difference is our war machine is larger and our politicians arrogantly believe they are the world's police force and are willing and able to unilaterally do whatever they please to enforce our world vision without considering the consequences. Or as Major General Smedley Butler said, "War is a Racket.".
