Bruce Schneier, author of "Secrets and Lies" and other books on security technology, criticized the DARPA idea as "un-American" and a police state ploy.

"This is what a police state does -- everyone watching what everyone does and the police watching your every move," Schneier told CNN in a telephone interview. "And what we learn from history is that police states never work. It never is safer."

He added, "We are American. We don't spy on everybody else. "

I have an even better idea that some bureaucratic pinhead will surely love.  Let’s do genetic and psychological testing and profiling on all people around the world.  We can let the state determine who is fit for breeding and who will reproduce unsavory or possibly even criminal elements, as deemed by the state of course.  We can then sterilize those who are surely not worthy of life or liberty, of course as decided by the state.  In fact, let’s just put those unfit ‘breeders’ out of their misery right now.  Maybe we could just gas them or some other effective mass removal of undesirables.  Quite frankly, are the desired actions reported by CNN anything other than the precursor to further Orwellian state-based insanity?    The state has already proven countless times throughout history that it believes it has efficient solutions to its problem of maintaining control and power.
